BT may bid for Plusnet

Plusnet has confirmed that it has received a preliminary approach leading to a possible bid.

The Independent reports that BT Group is in the early stages of talks to buy the Broadband ISP.  Plusnet shares rose sharply yesterday along with fellow rival ISP Pipex, following speculation they may be the target of possible takeovers, following Carphone Warehouse’s acquisition of AOL’s UK internet business.

Plusnet has admitted in recent months facing further difficulties following free broadband deals from Sky and Talk Talk.
