Biscit, the communications and broadband provider has launched a campaign to encourage the government to provide subsidies for phone and broadband services to students and senior citizens.

The aim presumably being to bring up to date phone and broadband services to those groups of people who cannot afford to buy the services or live in areas that need funding to provide access.

Biscit is to consult with its competitors and other key players in the industry to form a lobby group.

“Phone and broadband services are now everyday commodities for users who will help build our economy, and those that already have, and both groups should receive government support to get the full benefit,” says Hugh Paterson, Biscit’s CEO. He adds: “Subsidies exist for education, travel and heating. We believe they should also exist for calling and surfing.”
