BT have extended broadband usage guidelines for all BT Total Broadband options for both current and new customers.

The new usage allowances are as follows:

Broadband Option Previously Now
Option 1 2GB 5GB
Option 2 6GB 8GB
Option 3 40GB Unlimited

The new guidelines take immediate effect.  Since BT Total Broadband Option 3 is now unlimited, there are no applicable extra bandwidth charges.

The Broadband Resource UK has also updated it’s broadband offers page to reflect the changes for users of the price comparison service.

Asked why the increase in limits, A BT spokesman told The Broadband Resource UK: “We’ve done this in recognition that as customers become more used to the benefits of BT Total Broadband, they will find even more things to do online. Some of these require higher bandwidth or there is simply more information being downloaded and uploaded.”
