Pipex have confirmed that they may consider putting the company up for sale.

The company have confirmed to Broadband Resource via an official statement that it has appointed investment bank UBS to investigate a number of options, one of which could include a sale of the company.

The Pipex group has about 570,000 customers, and offers broadband, hosting and networking solutions for consumers and businesses.  Potential suitors could include rival candidates Sky, Carphone Warehouse or BT in the battle for broadband customers.

The competitive nature of the broadband arena has been highlighted by several high-profile takeovers including Carphone Warehouse buying AOL last year and Sky buying LLU provider Easynet.
