Broadband ISP Madasafish have launched a new Parental Control application aimed at protecting families from online threats.
In a press release, Madasafish said the service contains features such as:
- Customisable website blocking and filtering
- Safe Internet zones
- Instant Messaging recording and monitoring
- Time Controls
- An Online Control Centre
Madasafish has also recommended five steps for parents to ensure their children are as safe as possible while they surf the web:
- Ensure the home computer is kept in a public space – communal living areas will increase your ability to notice any wrongdoing
- Talk to your children about their internet activity – allow them their privacy but show interest in what they are doing
- Choose a responsible Internet Service Provider – some ISPs are members of groups such as the Internet Watch Foundation and Webminder which work to tackle the misuse of the internet
- Inform your children of the risks involved – explain the dangers of giving out any personal details and ensure they know the implications of doing so
- Get to know your children’s internet friends just as you would their school friends – familiarising yourself with regular internet contacts will reassure you that there is a regular circle of friends
Madasafish, owned by the Brightview group, was recently voted overall as one of the top ISPs according to a recent poll by BBC Watchdog.
