According to research from the BT Business division, 82 percent of small business owners with broadband say it is giving them a better work-life balance.

The research questioned business owners employing less than 50 people.  Over 95 percent of them had broadband in their home, enabling them to work at home more often and do away with the original 9-5 working patterns.

As a result, an increasing number of small business owners are starting to create a better work-life balance by spending more working hours away from the office.

The use of VoIP technology, which enables users to make telephone calls over the internet, also helped improve work-life balance.  Almost half also expect to be using the technology this time next year.

Bill Murphy, managing director of BT Business, said of the findings:  “Britain’s small businesses are critical to the health of the UK economy, and broadband is becoming central in helping them to thrive without compromising other aspects of their lives.”
