According to reports, Tiscali are in talks to buy Pipex.

Massimo Cristofori, CFO of Tiscali revealed to the press that Tiscali has completed preliminary talks and Pipex has sent their dossier to them.

It did appear that interest was waning in Pipex.  A couple of months ago the largest providers including Carphone Warehouse, BT and Virgin Media showed an interest but came to nothing.  The Pipex business includes 570,000 broadband customers and a successful range of web hosting businesses.

Pipex meanwhile is due to launch the second pilot of its WiMAX wireless broadband trial in Warwick.  This may also prove an attraction for Tiscali.

Tiscali themselves also bought IPTV provider Homechoice last year and recently rebranded it to Tiscali TV as a new offering.  It is currently looking to expand its presence in the UK and Italy.
