According to Tiscali’s latest update, email sending issues are fixed but it could be days before knowing if it is really fixed.

The website shows the SMTP server (used to send outgoing emails) running at 80%.  So although Tiscali believe that the issue is fixed, it will probably take several days to know if the SMTP service is working as normal.

Latest Tiscali status update at the time of writing:

“We will continue to monitor over the weekend and provide updates as necessary. We will send an” update to all customers once we are satisfied our email service is back to normal.”

Tiscali email sending issues first started on May 24 and was apparently caused by spammers hacking into the company’s email server and using it to send large amounts of unsolicited emails, causing other ISPs to blacklist Tiscali email addresses.

In the meantime, customers are probably best to continue (or start) using a free email account for sending emails for at least the next few days.
