Tiscali and Sky deal another blow to Virgin Media

Sky has revealed a deal to show the basic Sky channels on Tiscali TV.

BSkyB has struck a deal with Tiscali to show Sky’s basic channels, including Sky One, Two and Three.  The deal is another blow to Virgin Media, who failed to strike a deal with Sky to show these channels earlier this year.  It also contributed to customer churn in Virgin Media’s latest round of results.

Many subscribers have defected to Sky in order to watch popular programmes such as Lost and 24. The offering from Tiscali gives subscribers another alternative.

Tiscali TV works through a subscription to their broadband service along with a special set-top box, delivering TV content through the phoneline.  It offers a range of regular and premium digital channels including Sky Sports and Sky Movies.

It is currently expanding service availability to all major cities in the UK.
