PC World and Orange are offering a free laptop to Orange broadband sign-ups.

Following price cuts to their normal broadband tariffs, Orange have struck a deal with PC World to offer a free laptop for those who sign up to the Orange Starter broadband package through their local PC World store.

So what’s the catch?  Well basically you need to sign up for a 2 year contract to the Orange Starter broadband package.  This offers 2Mb broadband with a 2 gig usage limit at £14.99 per month, plus the first 3 months at £7.49 per month.

The laptop on offer is an Ei Systems 3101, with XP home, 256Mb RAM, a Celeron processor and a 40 gig hard drive.  It’s most certainly not suitable for high performance usage, or perhaps even medium usage.  If it’s for basic web browsing and email, it will suffice.

PC World is also offering a discount on a range of other laptops and PCs with the deal.
