ISP Newnet has announced it will begin roll out of a 24Meg broadband service in August.

The first area to receive the service is Portsmouth South in August, with 50 more exchanges to be unbundled over the next 2 years.  The service will cost from £11.49 per month.  Newnet will also be launching a range of 24Meg business broadband services.

It’s likely that the exchanges to be bundled will be the most densely populated exchanges in major UK cities.

Peter Coates-Buglear, Newnet founder and CEO said

“We are rolling out in Portsmouth first as it is on our door step.  Other areas will follow. We plan to cover as much of the country as possible – 50 exchanges over the next 2 years. We are starting in areas where we have most customers.

“The Portsmouth 24Meg service is 18 months ahead of BT and will enable customers to connect directly to our 10Gigabit High Speed UK network.”
