The winners of the annual Internet Industry (ISPA) awards have been announced.

The 10th 2008 ISPA awards took place at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square on 14th March 2008.

The best consumer ISP award was picked up by PlusNet, who were honoured due to their package structure, that includes defined usage limits rather than using the often confusing “unlimited usage” label.  Runners up in the category were BT, Tiscali, Virgin Media and Vispa.

An ISPA spokesperson said in a statement: “The judges agreed that PlusNet put their customers first with transparent usage allowances rather than vague Fair Usage Policies and their self-developed traffic management system. The judges also felt that PlusNet’s one month contracts were very beneficial to consumers.”

Eclipse, who won the best consumer broadband award in 2007, picked up two gongs this year, winning best business ISP and best business email.

The best consumer and business broadband awards went to two lesser known broadband providers, NewNet and Datanet.  Only Virgin Media figured in the runners-up list out of the major providers.

Full details of the award winners are available at the ISPA website.
