Vodafone has revealed plans to bring its up to 7.2 Mbps mobile broadband service to more cities in the UK.

Currently, coverage for its 3.5G mobile broadband service is available in some areas of London and most UK airports, offering download speeds up to 7.2Mbps (in reality up to around 5.5Mbps).  The coverage was initially limited to these areas to test the water and evaluate demand.

The mobile broadband service, which works by plugging in a provided USB Modem/Dongle into a laptop or PC, has been a huge success since last year.

Vodafone is to increase the coverage to Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester and Reading.  The company expects to complete the rollout by Autumn 2008.
