Reports suggest that BSkyB is currently ahead in the auction to buy Tiscali.

The auction included Vodafone, BT Group, Fastweb SpA and Wind.  BT and Vodafone are no longer thought to be in the running however.  Carphone Warehouse was not shortlisted as its offer of £550 Million was rejected at the time.

According to The Sunday Times, BSkyB has put forward an indicative offer of £450 million in exclusive talks with Tiscali.

BSkyB recently released its first quarter results, showing the company added 164,000 new broadband customers, taking the total to 1.792 million.
