Orange has signed a partnership with HP to offer a range of laptops with Orange broadband services.

The new three year deal will see Orange offering a range of notebooks and mini netbooks alongside a fixed/mobile broadband connection to customers in the UK as well as many other European countries including Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Portugal.

Already available is the Compaq Mini 700 with a mobile broadband connection, free dongle and 3GB of usage for £30 per month.  More will follow in due course.  “The demand for mobile broadband is a global phenomenon. Adding a select range of HP Notebooks and Minis to our successful portfolio of connected offers is just the kick-off phase,” said Olaf Swantee, SEVP of Orange’s communications services.

Its main competitors, 3, Vodafone, T-Mobile and O2 also offer laptop and mobile broadband deals, ranging from £20 to £40 per month.  All have one thing in common, a lengthy contract, but of course you get a laptop without paying the upfront cost of it.

Orange said that mobile broadband demand globally helped Orange increase its customer base by 23.2 million by 30 Sep 08, an 81% increase from the previous year.
