Will Pierce was shocked to find a large mobile phone bill from Vodafone on returning from a skiing holiday in Meribel.

Mr Pierce, 42, was on ‘boys’ holiday with his son, along with another father and son.  He had a Vodafone data card which provided him with mobile broadband access abroad.  He had downloaded several programmes for him and his son to watch as their hotel had no English television channels.

On their return from the 5 day trip, a phone bill for £21,716 was awaiting him.

“I’m amazed that Vodafone could allow an individual to run up such a huge bill without any warning or agreement of a credit limit,” Mr Pierce told The Daily Mail.

He added: “I nearly fell over when I saw the bill. It was just unbelievable. I never imagined it would cost so much to watch a few TV programmes.”

Vodafone have already responded saying it will waive the bill and that such bills are rare.  It also said it will investigate the matter further.
